Art direction for Thrive Causemetics Holiday 2022 product launch.
For Thrive I wanted to think outside of the box and step away from traditional visual notions of the Holidays. Therefore I conceived and created art direction for their holiday launch with the visual theme of Christmas in Palm springs. For this photoshoot, I wanted to create a contemporary twist on Midcentury modern aesthetics with the use of wallpapers, velvet curtains, and props of that time period to showcase their products.
The lighting I chose for the product shoot was inspired by photography from the 1960s to 1970s. We took the hard lighting from this era but softened the shadows and used some modern-day camera filters to add a sparkle effect to the products. This resulted in a successful marriage of contemporary and midcentury modern.
The color palette that I created was made to compliment Thrive’s iconic teal. It also incorporated some non-traditional greens and blues. The color palette was used when considering props and backgrounds.
